NON-MEDICAL FACE MASKS: WHY USE? WHAT TO CONSIDER? HOW TO WEAR?
NGPS 2020-21 COVID-19 Re-entry Handbook updated September 10, 2020. To read more on the NGPS Mask Protocol please see Section 1 - Provincial Health Measures, Pages 9-14 of the Handbook.
WHY USE A NON-MEDICAL FACE MASK?
Non-medical face masks can play a role in reducing the transmission of COVID-19 in the community when the mask is worn properly and hygiene practices are followed, particularly when consistent physical distancing is not possible. Please see Alberta's Guidance for Wearing Non-Medical Face Masks for the General Public, Section 1.
WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN SELECTING A NON-MEDICAL FACE MASK?
- Does it have multiple layers of tight woven fabric? (4 layers is optimal)
- Does the mask fit securely against your face, from nose to chin?
- Does the mask allow for clear breathing?
- Can you differentiate which side of the mask faces your mouth/faces out?
Please see Alberta's Guidance for Wearing Non-Medical Face Masks for the General Public, Section 8.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Parents can support their children by practicing mask wearing at home and by reinforcing that masks help us all stay safe and healthy. We truly appreciate the efforts of our families, staff, students and community to help keep everyone in good health.
